Music

Intent Statement

At Christ Church, we believe that music is a language that embodies one of the highest form of creativity.

We believe that music should be experienced and enjoyed by all. We provide opportunities for all children to develop their skills and knowledge and gain a firm understanding of what music is through, creating, performing, listening, singing, evaluating and composing across. We want children of all backgrounds and abilities to enjoy making music, achieve well and talk enthusiastically about their learning. As a result, all music activities are inclusive and appropriate for all children of any ability.

We believe that every child should have access to the highest quality of music education as part of a broad and balance curriculum.  Our curriculum is designed to inspire pupils to develop a love and understanding of music and appreciate their talents as a musicians, supporting their personal development; improving self-esteem, confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Music develops social skills and is important to the spiritual and cultural growth of pupils.

Encourage children to reflect on the important effect that music has on people’s mood, sense and quality of life. Children at Christ church have the opportunity to encounter music from different cultures and, through their growing knowledge and understanding of the music. Children should leave Christ Church with a more positive attitude towards other cultures, religions and society.
