Developing entrepreneurial skills — pupils price, promote, and sell their home-grown produce to our school community.
Celebrating teamwork: children gift the herbs they’ve grown to our kitchen staff, who use them in their delicious meals.
Bringing the Curriculum to Life Outdoors…
At Christ Church, our Grow Your Own Playground partnership has flourished over the past few years, turning our outdoor space into a living classroom.
Through this exciting project, children learn how to plant, nurture, and harvest their own food, gaining hands-on experience that links directly to the science curriculum. They don’t just grow vegetables - they cook, create, and eat what they’ve produced, developing a deep understanding of where food comes from and the importance of sustainability.
The project also helps pupils develop entrepreneurial skills as they use what they’ve grown to make and sell products, learning about teamwork, budgeting, and creativity along the way.
Our Grow Your Own Playground isn’t just a garden - it’s a place where curiosity, responsibility, and community spirit take root and grow.
Exploring nature through art – children used leaves from our playground to create beautiful cyanotype prints.
From grain to loaf, children explore how bread is made - learning through doing!
Our young gardeners turned entrepreneurs, sharing their freshly picked produce with families.
